Dialup Configuration for Windows 2000

  1. Double click “My Computer” on the Desktop, then open “Control Panel” from the listed folders.
  2. Double click the “Network and Dial-up Connections” icon.
  3. Double click the “Make New Connection” icon.
  4. Click “Next”.
  5. Select “Dial-up to the Internet”, then click “Next”
  6. Select “I want to set up Internet connection manually”, once this is selected, click “Next”.
  7. Choose “I connect through a phone line and a modem”. Click “Next”.
  8. Do not check the radio button Use area code and dialing rules. In the telephone number field type “1515” and click “Next”.
  9. In the Username field, enter your username. In the Password field, put in your password and click Next.
  10. Type “GTnet” in the connection name field provided. When you’ve typed in the name, click “Next”.
  11. Choose No here. Once No is selected, click Next.

  12. Put a check in the box beside To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click finish.
  13. Click “Finish” button.

  14. Double click on the GTnet icon and click the “Properties” button.

  15. Click the “options” tab.

  16. Check the following

    • Display progress while connecting
    • Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc.
    • Prompt for phone number .
    • Fill in the redialing options as shown in the snap shot below click “Networking” tab when you are finished.
     
  17. PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet should be selected as the Type of dial-up server I am calling. Internet Protocol, QoS Packet Scheduler, and Client for Microsoft Networks should all be checked. Then click on the “Properties” Button.
  18. Choose “Obtain IP address automatically” then “Obtain DNS server automatically” and click the advanced button.
  19. Click “Advanced” button when finished.
    • Use default gateway on remote network.
    • Use IP header compression.
    • Click “OK” when finished.
  20. Click the “OK” button. This will take you to the GTnet icon.
  21. Double click the GTnet icon and click “Dial” to connect to the Internet.
